Mid-Year Financial Update

It looks like corporations have weathered the downturn as they are reporting profits again. The steady level of low interest rates points to an economy poised for growth.

Mortgage rates are at a 40 year low, and should continue at that rate for the balance of the year. Unemployment will remain high at the 6% level, and will stay that way until at least the 4th quarter. Productivity should remain high since companies are not hiring new employees.

The southwest and west economies will remain the hottest growth areas in the country. Housing and construction will lead the way due to record low interest rates. Defense contractors in California, Texas, and Arizona have received large orders from the Pentagon, and have long backlogs.
